Arizona Clawson is an artist who works primarily in ceramics and printmaking based in Eastern Tennessee and has lived in Southern Appalachia for the entirety of her life. Her work is influenced by Southern Appalachian culture and her appreciation of the region and natural beauty. She is currently a BFA candidate at East Tennessee State University graduating in May of 2017.
The content of Arizona’s current work reflects how the honey bee positively influenced her childhood and how those influences have transferred over into her adulthood. Bee farming has had a significant impact on Arizona’s life. The honey bees have allowed her family to have a product they can enjoy and financially profit from. She continues to help her family raise honey bees and plans on being a fourth-generation bee farmer. |
